If you've come here to preview what our exported projects look like, you can view our sample specification here.
You can export your project specification at any time, provided all required clauses have been completed.
To export your project
From your Project Dashboard, click the Project Actions drop down menu, where you will find an option called Export:
You will then be presented with the options for a Limited Export or a Full Export.
A Limited Export is a partial specification containing only a small selection of specs/sections and is designed as an 'example' spec, most commonly used by our users on the Free Plan.
A Full Export is a complete and finished project specification, and choosing this will use one of your allotted projects (that are assigned to you when you sign up/renew your Smartspec plan). Click Spend 1 project point to unlock
This will then give you the following four options:
- Save to PDF
- Save to PDF with Appendix
- Save to ZIP with Appendix (useful if your Appendix is large and you are required to send the document electronically)
- Save Appendix only
Additionally, you can notify yourself via email when the export has been completed.
Project Exports page
Once exported, all projects will be saved on the Projects Export page for 30 days, and can be re-accessed at any time during those 30 days.
The Projects Export page can be found under your user settings tab.
Once you have unlocked a project for the first time, you won't be required to unlock it again, and you will skip that part of the Export function next time you go to download that project.
Exporting a project will consume (use) one of your available projects from your project allotment. If you are Smartspec user on either our Solo, Pro, or Enterprise plans, you will see your total available projects under your Settings page.
What if you have no spare projects left?
If you are on a Free Plan or have no project allotment available, you will only be able to export a partial project specification (this is an example project only and contains a limited number of specifications and sections)
You will also have the option to purchase this project at this time.
Purchasing projects is covered in more details here.
Missing Required Clauses notification
If you've accidentally forgotten to make selections for all mandatory clause options, then you will be unable to proceed with exporting your project spec.
Smartspec will automatically prompt you with a list of any incomplete specifications, and you will be able to hyperlink to these specifications to make the relevant selections.
Once you have made the required selections, you will be able to return to export your Project Specification.
