Smartspec utilises mandatory clause options in instances where it is crucial to include important information, without which the specification would likely be incomplete. This means you get an accurate and succinct project specification without the extensive editing associated with traditional processes.
How to identify mandatory clause options
If a clause option is required, you will see a red asterisk * next to the clause heading. This indicates that you must select at least one clause option within the related clause.
When a selection has been made and the clause option has been completed, a tick will appear next to the clause heading.
Mandatory clauses for optional selections
In certain situations where you make an optional clause selection (i.e. not a mandatory selection) this will require you to make another secondary selection. When this is the case, a red box will appear prompting you to make the secondary selection.
In the following example - the prompt in the red box indicates that in order to select Accessories, you are also required to complete Roof Underlay.
When mandatory options are not selected
If you've accidentally forgotten to make selections on all mandatory clause options then Smartspec will automatically prompt you at the point of exporting your Project Specification.
If this is the case - you will see a list of any incomplete specifications and can hyperlink to these specifications to make the relevant selections.
Once you have made the required selections, you can then successfully export the Project Specification.
