With the recent release of our pre-built templates, we thought it's probably a good time to do a quick overview of the three templates types and explain how they differ.
Project Templates
These templates are created from existing completed projects.
They're great for quickly turning out regular, similar projects that need only minor tweaks to complete - perfect for group home builders or designers working on standardised design style homes.
You can read a more detailed article on how to use them here
Pre-built Templates
These templates are similar to project templates, except in this case, we've done the template building for you - all you need to do is open it and save it as a new project!
You'll be able to identify pre-built templates in your template list by the Template Created By field - all pre-built templates will be created by Smartspec and the other templates will have your company name.
While they're also great for quickly turning out regular, similar projects that need only minor tweaks to complete, you could also use them to get new ideas on project structure or use the pre-built template to create your own, customised project template.
You can read a more detailed article on how to use them here
Specification Templates
Our third template type is different form the others, you would use them to create product specifications that you might not currently find on Smartspec, or you'd use them to create custom variations on existing product specifications.
These templates are created by editing an existing product specification, and then saving your newly edited spec as a specification template.
You can read a more detailed article on how to use them here or if you're a visual learner you can always watch our support video on templating here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ql7D01A8xeE
