How to use Smartspec's pre-built templates

We've recently launched a selection of pre-built templates to help make writing straight-forward specifications quicker and easier.

These templates come pre-populated with a range of product specifications to suit a variety of dwelling types and projects.

Where are the templates located?

Along with your own personal templates, Smartspec's new pre-built templates can be found under the Project Templates section in the Templates drop-down along the top navigation bar.

Within the templates tab, the Smartspec templates will list Smartspec as the name under the Template Created By field.

Using the pre-built templates

As with the other project templates, the Smartspec pre-built templates must be saved as a project before they can be used. Help with templates in general, can be found here.

You will notice when first opening one of our Smartspec templates that our handy 'walkthrough guide' will start. If this is your first time using templates, then following the guide will help you navigate the different elements of the template. Feel free to close the guide if you are already comfortable using Smartspec.

The other new addition within the templates is our use of handy 'hotspots'. These are represented by flashing blue dots in the upper-right of various content items within the template; hovering your mouse over the hotspot will display the content.

These hotspots will provide additional context and information about the products we've selected in the template, as well as point out various items or sections of interest.
